Eco Recreation

MayAchik is an ecologically constructed natural paradise, enjoyed by people from all over the world. It is a place to enjoy full contact with nature and our exclusive view of the Indian Nose (mountain top). MayAchik is constructed with local natural materials (adobe, stone, wood, and palm leaves) and traditional techniques like bajareque. As part of our aim of self-sustentability we are using solar panels for our famous hot showers and to supply energy and reducing our water consumption by having dry composting toilets throughout the site.

In MayAchik we have an organic garden full of fragrant and flavoursome herbs for the restaurant. There are several fruit trees from which we make desserts, ice-creams and cakes

Lake Atitlán, considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, shelters San Juan la Laguna, where the Tz´utujil people live, between its many hills and mountains. Ancestral traditions and one-of-a-kind natural wonders have been conserved here for many years.

San Juan la Laguna is considered the cleanest town around the lake, famous for its artists and wall streets, its most striking characteristic is its urban image. Descendants of the Maya ethnicity Tz´utujil (Flower of milapa) call San Juan la Laguna their home. This town is special for how its population lives in harmony with nature. Far from being considered a tourist site, San Juan La Laguna is the ideal place for those that want to escape from the noise and hassle of the city and enjoy the harmony of nature offered by this small town and it’s friendly people.
