The Tolimán Volcano is a 3158m high volcano, located in the municipalities of San Lucas Tolimán and Santiago Atitlán, in the department of Sololá. It has two summits, one that is known as the bullring and the other that would be the official summit. At the official top, you have beautiful views of Lake Atitlán and its volcanoes: Atitlán, Fuego, Acatenango, and San Pedro; as well as Santa Maria town, Santo Tomás, and Zunil.

We offer you these options:

• Hike in 2 days, 1-night camping at the top of the volcano, Departure is at 8:00 am. leaving San Juan with a tuk-tuk to San Pedro and then a boat to Santiago Atitlán. There we will hike for 4/5 hours to the top of the volcano, where we can enjoy the sunset. After sunrise, we descend and return to San Juan in the early afternoon of the next day.
• Leave at 4:00 am from Mayachik and go by public bus to Santiago Atitlán. From there 4-5 hours uphill, 3 hours downhill, and return at 5 pm.

Difficulty level: 7/10 moderate-difficult, the one-way path is 8km

It includes: Public transport and a local guide.

Duration: The average ascent is 4-5 hours and 3 hours of descent.

Recommendations: Bring breakfast, water (recommended 3l), snacks, a jacket for the cold, a windbreaker or waterproof jacket, gloves, beret, headlamp, and hiking boots.
